cam troubles..

    so i just slapped in a cam from my neighbor...claims to be a 280....the problem is i havent really felt a difference:eek:
    its a web cam. just wondering cuz imma pay a bill for this, and it doesnt seem like much change!
    im running a stock motor. chopped the cat off and slapped a cherrybomb on it.thats about it..any help please!!

    If you noticed zero change then just get rid of it (if you can get your money back).

    ummm, do you have the means to measure it? that would tell you for sure whether or not it's a 280.

    not fully im going to do that in the morn to see if its just that..i can hear the rocker arms rattling!
    also im going to just double check that its not just a stock cam!
    its wierd tho cuz the power feels exactly the same, if not less...
    if its just a stocker i think im going to send my other cam off to get a regrind and hopefully have a 260 or bigger if they can!

    if you didnt set your valve lash your not going to feel your cam and will loose power... you re timed your motor right ??? also different cams require different adjustments for valve lash like 8 and 12 is stock I think for my cam was 7 and 11 but I dont remember... check all the crap man

    ok kinda figured that the lash would fack it up a little.. my timings cherry but im planning on messin with it a lil more... myt try squeezing some more power out! ill check back tomorrow n let yah know whats the status!

    would the cam have a more distinctive look to it or what?
    when i took my cam n held them side by side i idint see much difference..

    nope thats my prob... wanted to but idk any1 with an electronic measurer. took it to a friends house n said either i need to tune it up or i got burned.

    if you hold em side by side and cant tell a difference between a 280 and stock its probably not a 280...

    a 280 would appear more of an elongated lobe.

    well its good i didnt pay him yet!!
    probably knew id noticed and went on his way when i test drove my truck!
    going to doublecheck now if its legit...

    no camera ryt now...
    well just got finished setting the valve lash..and played with timing... nada.
    im convinced that this is in fact a stock cam... imma let him know today if i can catch him at his hse.. on another note, my boys told me to throw an EFI cam in cuz its slightly bigger??? true?

    thats what im gna do.. or if he thinks he gave me a stock cam maybe hell just let me have it!then i can send my other cam to get grinded!!!

    nice, if anything, dont bother paying for something that wont improve the truck haha
