bye bye speedo

    my trucks speedo went out and i dont know how to fix it plain and simple. havent investigated it cause i got out of work when it was dark so my question is on a g40 trans. is my speedo info sent by a electrical sendder or by a cable if so how do i figure out how to fix it

    don't know what a g40 trans is, but if your truck is an 89 like you have on your info, its a cable, go down to the trans and remove it, the plastic gears might be broke, thats an easy and cheap fix

    its the 4spd manual. any chance you know what side or where to look for the speedo cable?

    should be on transmission's output shaft, but thats only what I know. Good luck finding it, I never know where mine is personally..

    gear probally went, where the speedo cable goes in there should be a 10 or 12mm bolt, unskrew the cable, undo the bolt, wiggle the thing in the trans, assembly should pop out, if gear is bald or chewed up its shot.

    now before u do this, jack up the rear, undo the cable assembly, from where it goes into the trans , start truck put it in 1st w/o the ebrake on and go look under the truck and see if u see the lil part spinning where the cable went. if not the gear is bad, if so the cable is broke
