my trucks speedo went out and i dont know how to fix it plain and simple. havent investigated it cause i got out of work when it was dark so my question is on a g40 trans. is my speedo info sent by a electrical sendder or by a cable if so how do i figure out how to fix it
don't know what a g40 trans is, but if your truck is an 89 like you have on your info, its a cable, go down to the trans and remove it, the plastic gears might be broke, thats an easy and cheap fix
should be on transmission's output shaft, but thats only what I know. Good luck finding it, I never know where mine is personally..
gear probally went, where the speedo cable goes in there should be a 10 or 12mm bolt, unskrew the cable, undo the bolt, wiggle the thing in the trans, assembly should pop out, if gear is bald or chewed up its shot. now before u do this, jack up the rear, undo the cable assembly, from where it goes into the trans , start truck put it in 1st w/o the ebrake on and go look under the truck and see if u see the lil part spinning where the cable went. if not the gear is bad, if so the cable is broke
