boring out the wheel center

    ok so i just picked up a set of what i was told ford probe wheels the issue is the hub center is to small to fit the hub on my lux so my question is where can i take the wheels to get the center bored out and do i need to run wheel spacers any help would be great

    Machine shop maybe. depends if they want to tackle the job. Try and find someone that does wheels as a specialty, you'll save more money that way. GL.

    i had probes on my 78 for a while. the twisted chrome 16" from the GTs. got them from a buddy. he just took a die grinder and a sand paper barrel bit and ground them down a bit. center caps still fit without spacers or hammering the dust caps. id say do that yourself then have them balanced again at a tire shop to make sure they dont have a wobble. rears are fine stock. i ran the stock probe 225/50/16 size tire all around.

    heres a picture. yes, i did alot to make them not rub that low :D

    ^ that looks good on that truck. like standard said, it must be minor, get a flapper wheel on a die grinder about 80 grit and work it. then balance.

    thats what i might just do i found a shop that would do it for around 60 bucks but there only open during the weekdays while im working oh well there loss :shrug:

    the set i had it looked minor for the fronts. i didnt even notice when i first put them on. i did when i realized a rear would just barely not fit. my old spare was too tall. so it rubbed like a bitch the whole way home to put the steelies back on. lol.

    well i just found out them wheels are a 14inch i dont know if i want to run them now i was looking for something a bit bigger but i guess i really cant complain since they were free so whatever

    each time you go fish.. take a wheel with you. bore it out as you wait for the fish line to hook. :D
