Hi, I have a 1974 Hilux and it has been sitting all winter. I just went to try and start it and something strange happened; the first time I tried to start it, it almost turned over, but I stopped and tried it again and then it just "Clicked" over, no engine noise though.

I think it may have something to do with the connections to the battery. I've attached some pictures; One connction is much thicker than the other(the smaller one seems to be the problem). What could I replace the smaller connector with? Is there a link to a part someone could send me? I'm new to this all, but really love these trucks.

    Any advice helps, thanks! image1.JPG image2.JPG image3.JPG

Check the voltage at the battery. Check the water level too

Your connections are junk. Replace them with new. Take the battery to someplace like AutoZone. They can check for condition and recharge if needed. Check your grounds.
The two wires coming off the (+) terminal are probably thermal links. One for lights one for ignition. You don't want to replace them with anything but another thermal link or (fusible link).
