    yes.

    your welcome :D

    side note:

you want a A40d out of a 80+ celica with electronic overdrive. and ANY auto you get will be longer then a lot of manuals, but the A40d is the same legnth as a W58 or 50 (celica). so your most likely gonna need a different driveline, maybe.

ya know thinking about it, im not really sure if the flex plate will bolt up or not, i seem to remember that the torque converter will bolt to the 18r flex plate but not sure if a 2xr flex plate will work.

id google search here www.classic-celica.com or ask, search is broken there.

and try www.1stgencelica.com search does work there.

Not to completely thread jack, but I have an 8RC.... will anything with more than 4 speeds bolt up?

I'm fine with shortening or lengthing the drive shaft. The 4 spd is a big reason why I don't drive my truck more.

Sorry if i'm jackin... I figure theres no use in starting a whole nother thread.

i believe the 8r is pretty much the same motor as the 18r. so i bet you could use any one of the many 5-speeds in the W series line.

they are cheap and plentiful enuff it might just be worth buying one and test fitting.

i cant say for certian until i see a 8r in person.

Hmm... may be worth pulling mine out this winter and having a gander. I want to get all the underhood details buttoned up, and replace a few gaskets.

Maybe i'll take pics and measurements then... we can see what it adds up to.
