First, are you having problems with it? if it's slipping new fluid will make it worse. if it's shifting hard, vibrating, etc. new fluid will probably help but might make it worse. it's supposed to be changed (IIRC) every 30k miles so 160k is kind of a lot. if it's never been done, suddenly changing out to new fluid can indeed cause the transmission to go bad. (technically it's the new fluid allowing the problems to show, not causing them but it seems the same to the end user) if it's the same fluid after 20 years and 160k miles, you must be very careful changing it. even if it's got half that. My suggestion would be taking a trans cooler line off and idling the engine in park enough to fill a 1 qt bottle then refilling with new stuff every oil change till....actually just keep doing it.

If you've got the A340, I've heard (from dealing with cressidas/supras) that toyota T-IV is the **** but that's with a full drain-fill-run-drain-fill, not sure if you can mix it with regular dexII

thanx for the reply kamesama .... yea man , not sure when or if it was ever changed . the first to second shift seems nice and normal . but the second to third shift seems like it sticks a bit , maybe takes an extra thousand rpms .... not too bad of a prob , thats why i figured a flush might solve the it ... ill prob try what you said and do maybe a quart at a time . thnx again man .
