Can anybody point me in right direction of the full process of swapping an auto trans to a manual, its a 94 Toyota pickup 2wd, 4cyl, ext cab. The transmission is from a 86-ish celica-supra w58,I measured them and the w58 is about 3inch shorter, does anybody know a place around lemoore-visalia-fresno area that extends driveshafts? What is needed for the swap besides the trans itself, the master and slave, the pedal assembly and what about electrical wise? Did I miss anything? Any and all help is much appreciated, thanks
We may be on different coasts, but we're in the same boat. I did everything obvious to get the A43D working in my '92 DLX. Today I started ripping it out. I'm putting in a W55. I think you have most of it. You'll need to replace the torque converter with a flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate. Add those to your list. And don't forget the hydraulic lines between the master and slave cylinders. As far as electrical, I'll burn that bridge when I come to it. I know I'm going to need reverse lights and to defeat the starter lock. In a 5-speed, that's usually done with a clutch peddle switch. If Bangor has places that do drive shafts, then so does Fresno. I hear that most of the work is for agricultural machinery, but someone should be able to do it. I happen to have a spare drive shaft from the truck the W55 came from, so thats my extension stock.
