Okay, I know that my truck is a 92 dlx long bed, and I most assuredly know that it is 2wd. What I don't know is whether it is 1/2 ton or 1 ton, and I don't know if the brake master cylinders for each are different or the same, and whether one could be used in place of the other. I am looking on ebay at brand new units, and I'm wondering if I can just get a 1 ton unit and use it either as a factory replacement(if the truck is a 1 ton) or as an upgrade (if the truck is 1/2 ton). I have heard varying things about the different models, and for a while there, I was faiurly certain that dlx simply meant 1 ton. But now I doubt this...

the one time I saw a 1 ton it had quite a few more leaves in the pack than my 1/2 ton.

IMO for stuff like brakes, it's better to get them from a parts store. not that much more price and you have someone to complain to if it does break/fail.

oh, second piece of advice: pull a wheel off and look at the pads, maybe with a ruler and sketch pad or camera. 2wd/4wd/1t brake pads are all VERY different shapes

Ya you should be able to bolt on 1 ton brake parts to a 1/2 ton. I would say yes. But I've never done it. Good brakes are awesome to have.
