I have an 83 4x4 22r I just put new motor in but can’t figure out this last piece of the puzzle.. I swapped in an 86 22re block and converted it to “22r” way more of a project and parts hunt than anticipated… anyway the original 83 alternator 3 wire plug is “square” and the newer 86 alternator is “round” it also has 3 wires but they are different colors… I’ve looked all over.. cannot figure it out… please help! thanks
That’s unusual. The only difference between the 22R block and the 22RE is electronic fuel injection. I would think you need only transfer all your original brackets and hardware to the new block. Maybe I’m missing something here. I’ve only worked with the 20R.
The difference is in the deck height of the block newer blocks are about 1/2inch shorter.. everything is different timing cover and all brackets ps pump alternator all different
I will do a write up when I’m done as I have learned a lot in this process and have had a difficult time finding info.. this is literally thee last piece of the puzzle !
