A/T floor shifter trans

    i noticed when my overdirve button is on or off it doesnt make a difference.......

    and how much speed it is.....????

    do you guys think that it needs to be rebuilt or just serviced??????????

    The only thing the overdrive button does is control the 4th gear function.
    Turn off overdrive and you'll have 3 gears.
    Turn it on and you'll have normal 4 gear operation.
    I have not seen any performance differences in turning off overdrive, especially from a stop.

    i know what the purpose of the over drive button... but
    it doesnt work at all so i only i have three gears....
    so i was asking what would be the problem to that

    i would try replacing the switch if its not working. it could be that it isnt letting power through to let the trans know its in the default on position. try that and see how it goes. should be the quickest and cheapest thing to try.

    I checked whatever I could the switch works
    So I'm thinking its the over drive solenoid

    is it true that the overdrive wont work if the coolant temp is not giving a signal to the over drive relay???

    i need help finding where the over drive relay is at...
    the haynes manual doesnt chow anything like that??
