Ok, what muffler sounds good on a 22r? I know that 4 bangers don't sound deep or throaty, but what do you guys run on your rides? I'm looking for a nice mild sound, just something where i know its running. no pop or chainsaw sound. just a little more deepish sound. Previous owner had a new one installed and its so quiet, it sounds like a hybrid..lol
Aww the sounds . . . I run the 4" round s.s. Magnaflow part #14445. I run it from a stock exhaust manifold - cat cut out - and upgraded 2" exhaust pipe. My plan is to run a Doug Thorley header after I rebuilt the top end hopefully next spring. I like the sound, not ricey, not DEEP, just enough noise to wake her up and way less restriction than my previoud muffler/cat . . .
magnaflows sound sweet on the stock 22r... also flowmasters.. magnaflow is hard to describe.. it does not sound ricey at all.. it doesnt sound like a v8 but it sounds tough....
I have a magnaflow on my 86 runner and a magnaflow on my truck go magnaflow.....the flowy sounds ok but gets very annoying
Ya, don't want any drone at all...i have to drive it 30 miles every day to work. (60 round trip at 65 miles an hr) So I don't want to get anything loud, or with anything "annoying". Driving the 81 everyday till i get my s10 fixed is annoying enough...
Bad Mega ! ! ! . . . Anyways, The magnaflow is a nice sound, mellow yet lively ( you decide with gas pedal ) anything is better than the stock putt putt w/cat. . .
love my magnaflow....... wouldnt do any other exhaust. its tame when cruising on the highway and not loud at all really. here's my truck rolling by and uhhh....well, you'll see. anyways. im running a downey 4-1 header, catless and 2 /12" piping all the way to stock location.
lol..well, it is an ex cab, nice stereo, bigger cab. I'm 6'3 280 for gods sake, cut me some slack man!!! Cool deal, ill get a magnaflow, delete my cat and see how that sounds SD YOTA, what magnaflow is that your running?
I'm not much for the magnaflow sound. I guess Im old school i love the deep sound of the flowmaster triple chamber mufflers. but every bodies ears are different.
Im have & always will run Flowmaster mufflers. Ive got one on my 91 22re & had one on my 88 with 22r. Awesome deep sound & a great performance mod as well too!!
Thrush chambered 2-1/2" + turndown... The Hooker aero chamber is what I really wnated but, did not fit the budget...
Preturbo on my Celica I had a Raptor (cheap LOL) turbo muff, and a glasspack in the cat location, on 2" pipe. It sounded great and wasn't too loud. With the turbo I have just a generic turbo muffler (supplied by the muffler shop) on 2 1/2" pipe, which sounds good too.
i i actually like the way the 22R kinda sounds like a small deisel engine.... what should I get to make that a little deeper sounding???
I have a flowmaster on my 93 & its pretty damn loud, but i like it. On my 89 I have a hooker Maxflow which is great as well. With the flowmaster its straight loud, (real loud). With the maxflow its quit when your cruisung unlike the flow, but when you rev the engine or start getting on it, youll hear it. Seems to make the engine sound like it revs faster.
anyone got a sound clip of a flowmaster hooked to a 22R? i have dual 2 chamber flowmasters on my 66 mustang, its pretty loud but sounds awesome, just wondering how they sound behind a four popper
had a stock exhaust from a 04 pontiac gto, and a welder... half a gto exhaust later and viola a new SS 22re exhaust! LOL ran it right off my trd header no cat, sounds great! anyone want the other half? LOL!
