do i have w/56 or w/55 or what is the 5-spd trans on a 1993 toyota 2wd standard with 4:10 gears???can anybody tell me please???plus i want to do a centerforce dual friction clutch plus a lightend flywheel.the truck wants to pull but all i have is a downey cold air-intake plus a flowmaster 40 series exhaust.i'm planning on also doing some l.c. engineering headers plus a hi-flow cat.i had it up to 100 mph with studs on in the rain coming back from tacoma in the winter.i pulled from 65 mph to 100 mph and it still wanted to do more.i still had some room in my pedal!!!!also i want to do a cam and rockers too plus a bigger cylinder head and valve springs.will this help in the horsepower and the top end???

Check your data sticker on the door jamb... It will tell you what trans you have, that is if it hasn't been swapped out previously...

Your plans sound good, just start saving up for the parts... That's the hard part!

start with the header. and pacesetter is alot cheaper than lc. i have one and it works great. ive had my orange truck to about 125 on the I90 bridge. and on a few other spots. thats about all it had with a W50 and 4.10s. i was out of gear.

I've heard the LCE header has noticable top end power with the 4 into 1 design. A lightweight flywheel is a great bang-for-the-buck additive. I can't tell you how fast I go because my speedometer doesn't work. And maybe it's better that way because there could be FBI agents lurking:drool:

After I did my head gasket I topped out the speedo plus more. Ditch all the emissions stuff except A/C kickup solenoid. Just disconnect vacuum hose to egr and it won't work. Get an open element air filter (I got mine off ebay for like $10). Clutch is good idea, but I wouldn't put a lightened flywheel in it. You'll lose holeshot power, the trucks a bit heavier than a civic. Header, plugs, wires, cap, usual tune-up stuff. Set the timing 1-2 advanced from normal and have some fun. If you ever haul anything don't do the timing. I had problems detonating when my bike was in the back.

Oh, and your trans should be a W56. Put some good oil in it and you'll be amazed how it feels.

cheap short shifter is a non turbo 3rd gen supra. it has a w58 but the arm is interchangable. i think i have one somewhere you can test fit. toyota has 2 shifter pivot ball sizes. mine uses the larger one. so the supra one fit all sloppy. worked, but i didnt like it. but, maybe switching the whole top pivot housing (with the 5 bolts) is the trick. i dunno. ill bring it to the hilux meet in march.

today i had my truck up to 90 mph.i was going for 100mph.but being in between to military bases i didn't think it was a good idea.it was fun though!!! i still had plenty of room in my transmission to go past 110 mph without a probblem!!!

its just his name. its not turbod. just a mild set of bolt ons it seems. but, my old 92 shortie would do 110 easy. even with 3 people in it. it was just a k&n element in the box, hotter coil/plugs, and a better exhaust. mostly done by the P.O.
