is there a cel engine light on these trucks? i know on al lmy previous vehicles like my jeep you turn the key back and forth a couple times and it flashes codes on the dash. even my old suzuki samurai was like that.

just wondering if i can check and see if i have any diagnostic codes that i dont know about

 

Yes, you have a check engine light, I believe you operate it with a jumper on the fuse box.

 

on an 89 if the light isnt on there arnt any codes. if you wanna jumper it there is a box with a cover that looks like this


jumper from pins TE1 to E1 ( pins 3 to 8 in this pic ) then turn the key to the on position and count the flash code.
