i have an 88 toyota pickup.. my dad recently got hit on the rear (nothing major) but some problems came up..

1) no turn signals but hazards work
2) fuel gauge in-op
3) 'charge' light on

these all happened right after the hit.. i have replaced the alternator and re-charged the battery.. but the charge light is till on.. i looked for a signal/blinker fuse or relay but i was unsuccessful.. but i have found the 'fuel' relay under the hood.. would that be the cause of all 3? on the fuse cover.. theres something written on the top as so..

all three of those is on that on relay.. and when i pulled it, it said something like 'emissions relay'.. so im kinda second-guessing myself that its not the problem..

Enola should be able to tell you but I don't know when he'll be on. Your blinker fluid is probally low! Jk man I believe the turn signal fuse is in the drivers side kick panel but I don't know enoguh about the 88 just the 89-94.

 

yeah.. i was talking to that guy on customtacos.com i believe.. and he told me that this site would be better help because from what i see, it basically deals with the older model trucks..

and as for the fuse by the kick panel.. suprisingly.. there is no fuse for the blinker in there.. but i'll check all of them when i wake up tomorrow just to make sure..

 

Try checking all your turn signals to see if any connecters have come loose. I know with most older cars the turn signals have to have a complete circuit to work properly. If all the wires are connected, the problem may be the blinker switch in the steering column.

 

Trouble with rear lights

In the kick panel there will be a fuse holder with lots of coloured fuses plus some relays. Your turn signals are controlled by a relay - a flasher relay. Check it for a good connection.

Also make sure you have a good Earth as the rear lights are all on one wiring harness, including number plate lights, turn signals and stop light.

The fuel gauge works from a two wire connector that slips onto the top of the fuel tank. It may have been dislodged or broken in the shunt.

did the tail lights get hit?

all blinker bulbs have to be the same to get the blinker to work.

maybe the wire loom got pinched and is shorting under the bed?

 

why are my turn signals dont work but my hazards do? I have a 1987 2wd I just got it.

I replace the whole blinker switch on the steering wheel and checkd all the wirings and they are fine and I also check the fuses nothings blown. but im thinking its the blinker fuse I dont know can some one plz help me?

 

sounds like a pinched wire on the framerail somewhere shorting things out in the rear of the truck???
