I have an '87 4runner (recently gifted to me upon the death of my uncle) with a mostly completed '01 Tacoma 2rze engine swap. It is missing key emissions control components, rendering it not street legal in CA (where I live). Does anyone have any advice, or can you point me to either previous posts, forums, videos, etc that deal with this? I am debating if it is easier to just sell it out of state, than try to make it work here. Thank you in advance for any insight.

Eventually, to make that setup legal you would have to get it BAR'd. Meaning all oem connectors and emissions gadgets are all there, working because the first smog check must be done at state referee site. So it is possible to be legit.

But if your just gna sell, I'd get it running decent nd make a weekend off-roader, someone will pick it up!
