i buy vehicles needing work, fix em up, drive em. what else can i say. Hilux has been straggling around too long and needs to run on its own power

found it for sale hours out of town in a forest on a farm. was driven without coolant in it. blown headgasket, broken trans linkage, leaking heatercore, missing box, leaking wheel cylinder, patched frame, who knows what else. originally someone was going to strip the axles and junk it, bought the thing whole for $500 and paid for it to get flatbed home on a crappy January day



got it home, ran off of brake cleaner. coolant reservoir puked out coolant and the rad overpressurized. started taking the engine apart, cleaned all the crap out of the cab



towed it from the house to the lot at work, continued to take off the head. drained the motor oil, coolant out of the oilpan. not gonna happen. bought a low K engine/trans/xfercase combo from a 82 parts truck for $300



swapping in the new drivetrain Sunday morning, at that point if it runs it will be one of the cheapest beaters ive owned. 500 for the truck, 300 for new drivetrain, 100 for new belts, hoses, and fluids. maybe 50 bucks in wood for a flatbed, in for under 1k
