Hi, I'm new here so this might be a stupid question, but are any of the transmissions for the pickups interchangeable? I have a w50 in my '77, so would one from a 78, or even an 80 be able to be swapped into it? Thanks.

I think the 80's pickup will still have a w50. If you have the right bellhousing, tailshaft housing, and crossmember you can throw in a w55 or 58. Pretty much if you take it out of a truck with a 20r/22r it should work but might want to take the crossmember if it's not a w50. If I remember right the dead give away for a w50 is a cast iron gear box and a cast aluminum tailshaft housing.

My ‘81 has the W50 tranny from the factory
