swapped the combo meter to a 78 to get a temp gauge

Need more info on the swap! What all did it take to get it fitted and how was the wiring?

 

fitting was not to bad . i took 2 inches out of the lower crossmember ,and used a rear sump oil pan off a 2wd 3.4 truck . the wireing is the easy part . that is what i do everyday .make 3.4 swap harnesses for the 4x4 crowd

 

once i turned my computer 90 degrees, looks like a really nice swap

 

Awesome on the cluster retrofit. I bought a 76' cluster for the same reason, Temp read out, thought it was plug-n-play.

 

harness is different on the back , the temp one has 2 pigtails

 

used the mighty max ft springs . and 3 inch block . to lower it

 

and finished the harness under the hood

 

Wow! Amazing fit. A while back, I bought a 74 with a 5VZ already in it, and I have some gripes with some of the p.o.’s efforts to shoehorn it in. I’m really curious, what transmission are you using? Also, did that radiator come with the engine? I see that you still have what looks like the clutch fan and shroud, maybe cut around a customized hose?

 

stock 3.0 r151 trans out of a 3.0 2wd .with marlin stuff inside . radiator is also a 3.0 90 2wd truck . stock 3.4 upper hose shroud cut to fit

 

Since then it got a torsen gear locker in the rear , cheater slicks , and skinny tires in front
