Currently my truck is all stock. Planning on going down a few inches, these are my plans,

Front springs, Mighty Max stock replacement from Moog.
Front shocks, 67-69 Camaro, can't remember the brand at the moment.

Rear, 3" blocks from Beefed Taco.
    Rear shocks, ???

Anyone have a good idea of shocks to run in the back?

A quality shock will do even air shocks . I favor blistein hd shocks but most high quality shocks will work just search for shocks for your truck online and find a high end or quality replacement those 30 dollar parts store shocks suck u won't need a short shock regular length will work

Oh okay, I thought with lowering I should find a stock shock that's shorter in length.

If your rear shocks attach directly to the rear axle then yes a short shock to go with the 3 inch block but if they attach to the leaf spring plate then a regular length shock will work sense your not changing the leaf spring height just raising the axle on the leaf spring .

Just verified, the shocks go to the leaf spring plate. Cool, not so worried now about this. Now time to find decent replacement shocks. A lot of sites don't even have a selection for these trucks.

Yes that is true relics in time .. What may be possible is to call bilstein or a reputable shock supplier and talk to someone in person and also possible remove your shock and measure its length uncompressed and see if it uses eyelet holes < round hole mounting bolt thru the hole type ...top and bottom wich I'm sure it does and relay that info to them cause in there are many shocks the same length and style that will fit these older trucks . May take some searching and phone calls but it can be done

Rockauto has shocks for your truck, they can also cross reference if your parts will fit other vehicles, procomp has toxic shocks in many lengths also, I have a catalog that specifies length, mount type and such, I wanted to use toxic but I couldn't resist the 37.00 bilsteins at stillen

Nashman, they are bilstein ak1043 and ak1044 for Monte Carlo app, they are racing shocks hence so cheap, I'm going after performance so stiff ride isn't an issue. There may need to be a little modification but not much. Funny thing is that now that I've checked the site again, the price went from 37.00 to 59.99!!! I think they've made changes since my order. I did get the 37.00 deal though

I ran toxic shocks on my old hardbody and they were awesome. Don't know if they still make them, but it's worth looking into. Got them through Les Schwab when I worked there.

For reference I was running 3” blocks and had a leaf removed.

ya bro like we talked before i think the bilstein is the way to go. just take the measurements and like Scrub88 said double check the mounting (eye to eye or studs).

I keep thinking I will need shorter shocks in the rear. Stupid me. I'll keep doing research about those bilsteins though. Do the eye holes usually measure the same on most shocks? Or do those vary in diameter/hole size?

Don't buy the shocks in the link I posted, they require some work to fit, the price went up drastically and they aren't street shocks, just get the bilstein hd for the Toyota truck, I believe for our rn10-12, front 69-83 toy truck will work, rear 69-95 toy truck will work. Bilstein Hd also carries lifetime warranty unlike the ak series in the link.

The last time I spoke to a procomp rep, he said most of their toxic shocks run 5/8 eyelet bushings, but I would call just to make sure.

Yes most eyelets are the same size unless you get into say Chevy 2500 hd size trucks even if there slightly to large a small metal sleeve can be found about any were just cut and slide in the rubber bushing . But I seriously doubt you will have that problem .

Just searching for the Bilstein HD's seem like I'm having trouble. Nothing for RN10, so I just searched for an '84, if they are indeed the same.

    Bilstein HD Shock

There are a set I found on tirerack. Those gonna work for rear?
