Hey guys, so I messed up. I can post pictures but I unscrewed the screws on my vmaf and one of the metal nodes inside the vmaf broke. I can post pictures. But it was the left most metal prong on the inside connection. Since it looks like that metal pin should be under load when the flap is open, I assume it wouldn't be safe to try to solder it. Is there any possible quick fix or am I up sh*t creek with no paddle and a hole in my boat?

Afraid so. You might be lucky and be able to fix, but probably not. The spring on the vane of my MAF snapped and I had to replace it. New OEM ones are virtually non existent. Your main options will be looking for used ones that can be pricey...~$2-300 or new ones from China that go on ebay for ~$100-150. I bought both, and both work. I'm presently using a used one that I bought on ebay for ~$200.
