    Hi all,
I have recently picked up a 22re from a 95ish pickup and I am going to swap it into my 1977 rn25 in place of the old run down 12r. Is there anyone out there that has done a similar swap or has any tips for me? Any help appreciated

The truck came standard as a 4 speed column shift so Ive found a w50 5 speed from a 78 celica and I've found a bellhousing to fit between the two...

it looks like the oil pan of the stock 22re wont clear the steering link on my truck so I'm thinking I will have to use a oil pan and oil pickup from a 20r that's in the same model truck, or would a mid sump from a celica work? Here in New Zealand the 20r or 22r was never offered in the pre 79 pick ups so it may be difficult to find an oil pan in the country, so a celica might be the better option? What dipstick would I have to use?

Is there anything else I am missing or need to know for the swap?

I put a 22r in my 72, just about the same chassis. Used 22R mounts and engine to mount brackets. Mid sump oil pan and matching pick up tube work well. Small gap and it clears the steering just right

Great thanks, do you know what clutch fork and throw out bearing I will need to use between the w50 and 22re?

I'm considering this same swap. Do you have a build thread started?

Use whatever fork the transmission needs.
Also read something about a certain clutch disk being larger than the rest. Not sure if it actually makes a difference performance wise but it may be worth looking into for a little extra bite

Not yet but I will start one soon, i will be starting the build in the next month or so. Looks like it's going to be fairly simple from what I can see so far

I used the 8 7/8th" clutch with my w50. Bought a kit for an 80/88 that included the flywheel.

I'm picking up my donor truck this weekend, then gonna strip everything I'll need off of it.

Hi, I know this is an older thread, ddyou ever start a build thread for your 22re engine swap, I just started on my son's 74 pickup, did you have to use an oil pan with midsummer and oil pick up tube , from a 77,78 celica 20r? We have a 22re from a 90 2wd pickup, will the pan clear the steering ?

Mid sump pan is needed. Rear sump hits the drag link. Front sump obviously hits the xmember
