I get this strong fuel smell in the cabin after I run it at high RPMs like when I'm passing or going up a hill. I've tried jumping out and looking for leaks but cannot find any. Smell seems to be coming from the tank area but there are not leaks.

Should I just replace all hoses and see what happens. They are original.

    Thanks.

Yup, raw gasoline....I've siphoned enough out of a 1977 Impala when I was a kid into a lawn mower to remember...or to not remember...

only happens when you are beating on it, not at idle or anything?

Yup, not at idle or fast idle or anything, she has to be working uphill or towing....

I've looked all around the engine compartment and not a drop of fuel or damp areas near connectors or the carb.

i would check your fuel lines for a leak, that or your mechanical fuel pump is starting to leak like mine was...fuel smells weird sometimes.
