    Hello all,

I recently inherited a family heirloom, a 1977 Toyota 1/2 ton Pickup, when my grandmother passed in Jan.
The truck was purchased new by my grandfather in July 1977 (the original paperwork, sales receipt, and port of entry papers in Japanese are still in it). Papaw was a truck driver and was on the road a lot, so it stayed low mileage (81,780 miles on the original engine today). I have very find memories of riding in this truck with him when I was a child.

When my grandfather passed in '87 my grandmother stored it in the garage, only pulling it out occasionally for light hauling. Well the truck is mine now, and with just replacing a few seals, wires, plugs, having the carburetor rebuilt, and changing out both the slave and master cylinders for the clutch, I now have a beautiful truck with ice cold AC.

    Enjoy:

It's gorgeous! Looks as good or better than mine when I started. I got mine from the 2nd owner, who had it a year. Original owner had it 28 years. I started with 81k miles too. What kind of stuff do you plan to do to the truck? I would say get some nice wheels and swap the dumbo mirrors and it'll be good for another 30 years.

It's great that you can always remember your grandparents with the truck too. Just don't get too attached to parts that go bad or are stock. These trucks can always be made better.

Welcome & thanks for the story about your Grandfather!!!

The truck looks GREAT! I like the pull switches in those trucks and factory A/C to top it off.
I would hope you are planning on keeping it stock with maybe a few slight mods.

    Rick

I love all the pull switches too. The fan is a twist. I have some cool ideas for changing the knobs out if you're interested. Either swap them out, or paint the end disc. On the wiper switch it pops out. Rubber edge with a hard plastic disc. I think the lights and hazards can take wiper knobs if ya like that idea.

That is the plan. I will update some, but I want to maintain the original look and feel in order to preserve the nostalgia.

Does Florida require a front license plate? If not you should find a vintage one to put up front. These bumpers aren't styled for running none. The JDM marker light housings are a nice subtle front mod too. Has a split color lens.
