Maybe? It's kind of growing on me. I might widen the rear but keep the raked stance or just try to square it off. I've got an MK1 duckbill for the front coming and after that I might take a break on it for a while and move on to my bike or other car projects.

Did you cut the fender to allow for the width? Or does the flare just bolt on?

On eBay. It’s a golf MK1 chin splitter.

    Cool
Definitely need the rear flares now! Once you do those, then you gotta do the side skirt diffuser things!

There’s pics on the net of that bright yellow Hilux that started being used in the eBay ad for fender flares. The side skirts and behind the rear tire angled bit really tied in everything to me - but he was missing the chin spoiler! Was definitely nice to not see the different heights between the cab and bed, which I always thought was an odd aesthetic decision from Toyota on our trucks

Finally got around to taking on the motor mounts only to realize rockauto sent me two different and wrong mounts. Waiting for new ones to arrive.

Also the neg strap connects to the passenger mount and mine looked was super rough so I built this new one in the mean time.

@Ivey Can you please let me know how the ride feels afterwards? Also which mount did you get? I changed mine 4 years ago and the truck rattles like crazy, I can feel the gears gridding when I drive especially at high rpm's. I change the oil every 3k even started oil additive to see if it makes a difference and still nothing. I'm starting to believe its the mounts. I kind of like the analog feel of it but other people think the truck is going to fall apart, kind of makes it uncomfortable.

I got the Pioneer mounts from Rockauto for a 76. I only did like a 10min test drive after finishing but I’m not sure how much difference the motor mounts make. Maybe they did help because now I’m noticing a slightly rough idle. My transmission mount on the other hand was completely collapsed, stick no longer shakes like a hitachi magic wand. Shifts felt maybe a tiny bit sharper but nothing dramatic.

My 4-speed seems pretty decent although I think the 2nd gear bearing is starting to give as I will get a strong vibration in 2nd only.

Did you replace the shifter cup/bushing? That made the biggest difference for me. I also run mt90 gear oil in the transmission, some people recommend overfilling the tranny case but that's not as easy on the L43 I have.

@Ivey Thanks for the detailed reply, I have changed all you have mentioned. I have not changed the trannie oil yet, that will be on the next oil change.

Ok after driving some more and fixing a misfire I’m actually super happy with the mounts. Initially I was down a cylinder and it was rocking like crazy but I replaced the plug wires and it’s much better now. It’s so much better now I though it stalled at a stop light.

next big project will be a new harmonic balancer and a new seal.

Also broke my lip like first time out, lol. 34F82F0E-3810-4BF2-8B72-9FB15FF7893E.jpeg
