Hello I have trouble finding a water pump for a 20R engine with 8 screw holes.

I search in autozone and Oreilly and they only have water pumps that have 9 holes. Where can I locate one with 8 holes? Is the 9 hole only for the 22R?

Because I tried installing one and it looks like that water will get out.

You could swap cover plates or silicon the extra hole shut. Ill have to see what mine runs. Never knew there was a diff.

Or instead of silicone, tap it and put a pipe plug in it..

Used JB Weld to cover the extra hold

Thanks for the replies it was helpful.

I was looking and researching a bit more I could not find a similar replacement. So I covered the extra hole with JB weld and it seems to work. I let it cure all night and it is now solid. I already put it on and took it for a drive for the last 4 days and everything it fine, no leakage or overheating.

I am still wondering is the 1975 Toyota 20R the only year that has 8 screw holes for the water pump or does it continue until the 22R. I noticed in most auto part stores list their water pumps as 20R and 22R compatible. which was weird.

I know this is an old thread but I am finding that 77 -85 20 r and 22r waterpumps are the same, 75 76 are different
