The book states use the tightening sequence , from the center then go outward. But then to center the thrust bearing it states tighten all center caps except the center then rock it back and forth the "center" the thrust bearing.
But reading all the build posts nowhere is this "thrust bearing procedure" mentioned.

I know I'm lookn at this wrong. :brickknock:

    just to make sure.

you are talking about the thrust bearing on the crank yes?

not confusing it with something else.... sounds like what your talking about.

if so i want to say you align it first then torque it down using the provided pattern.

i know that somewhere on Celica-GTS.com or maybe classic-celica.com there is a thread that talks about this (how i learned). but i cant find it after a quick search and that was a while ago i read it. id say go to a dealer and see if the techs will let you look at a tsb or tell you, but id try 2 dealerships, to make sure the first one isnt f'n you over.

prolly covered at Pirate4x4.Com - The largest off roading website in the world. too

you don't have to torque the other caps, just get then snug (5-10 ftlbs???) and slide the crank lengthwise to seat the thrust bearings (hello plastic mallet). then torque them all per specs. they just don't want you to torque the cap with the thrust bearing without the thrust washers snugged in place.
