Well this is now my third Toyota truck. I still have my first which is a 93' 2WD shortbed, full show mini (under construction again) and then for awhile I had a 78' Hilux as a daily driver. Well I sold it a few years back and have missed it ever since. I came across this 71' on craigslist and told my buddy about it cause someone had dropped in a 18RG at some point. Well I knew he really wanted that motor for his 74' Celica project so we worked out a deal. He bought the truck to pull the motor then sold it to me for practically nothing. Well now that he has his motor the truck is mine. This thing needs a lot of work, but that is nothing alot of time and some salvage yard scavaging can't fix.

Anyone have a 20R head they are not real attached too. :)

I dig it. I would just get the lights working and get an old school set of mirrors. I like the old VW ones. Its what I run. Or you could swap the fender lights for JDM style fender mount mirrors. Would look pretty sweet and you probably wouldnt have to drill the truck.

Well it's not much of a update but I did do a little work on the truck.

I finally cleaned and fixed the turn signals and fixed all the sidemarker lights. I do still need one amber one for the front. Right now I have a red lens on the drivers front fender.

Now the next thing is to fix the e-brake, and re-set the steering.

nice truck, nice start also... I dont have a 20r head, I have an early 22r head that has the open chambers and round exhaust ports if that may interest you, willing to let it go fairly cheap

Thanks, but I have a guy in Oklahoma that has found me a 20R head for $30.

I was thinking about selling it to help buy this early Corolla, but I am heavily considering just keeping it and resto-modding it instead.

    Thanks LoLux

What I keep struggling with is that I still have my first car which is a 81 Corolla sport coupe, and do I really need a 71 too. Also, I see alot more resto-modded early 70's Corollas done than early Hiluxs.

Plus, I could not only restore it and make it clean and mod it some but then I couold put some use to it as well.

I am just not sure what to do. Both my Hilux and the Corolla I am thinking of buying are both 71's. The only other thing going for the Corolla is that it has a 2TG in it.

I am about 80/20% in favor of the Hilux right now. Unless something changes my mind I think this is the way I am going to go.

I am thinking maybe some nice 14's or 15's, some JDM bullet fender mirrors and maybe even a front lip spoiler. :D

Well I have decided I am going to keep the Lux instead of selling it to get a TE27. I hink I could have more fun with this.

Anyway.... can some of you guys post pics of your stock door panels. I have a feeling the handle on the inside of my doors are from somewhere else. If they are I need to find some stock ones then.

Glad you decided to keep the truck.

Though I do frequently think about the Celica I had....

I have seen that car before, very beautiful. Your right though. I am going to build my Lux to look every bit as good as any classic Celica or Corolla.

You got any pics of your interior door handles?
