I did a couple searches with no luck. Anyone have any info on cutting out my cab and bed to make it a walk thru style. I need info on sealing it together and also strengthening the cab and bed after removing the cab wall. Have heard of alot of people wanting to do it but not much info on anyone actually doing it.

FWIW... I used to have a bed shell on my truck and I took out the back window. Used some thick thick weatherstrip in the glass frame and it worked good.

BUT... I distinctly remember the bed/camper shell flexing like 1/8-3/8 of an inch in relation to the cab. I dont know if you wanted to solid mount it, (like with fiberglass or metal), but I would suggest against it. The box steel frame just isnt that rigid.

Custom mod just like anything. But your gonna have to find a old schooler to help you or just use common sense and you will be fine.

Hint: the back of the bed is bolted on all you have to do is unbolt that part. :D

Not solid together .. my racing roots say to put a cage in for strength but I'm not sure of your direct intentions for the walk thru.

My intentions are to make the truck like the old trekker conversions were. Heres the deal. I have three boys that like to go wheeling with me. I cant afford to buy another rig so the need to modify this one has arisen. I am going to cut the back of the cab and the front of the bed and create a seal between the two. I dont want to mount the bed and cab solid to each other due to flex. I have too much time and money invested in this truck to get rid of it and my kids love it.

Im preparing to venture into the same world s you. My walk threw is for stereo purposes though. To seal them together Use and accordion boot. CRL Slider to Shell Accordion Boot Seal - Truck Sliding Window | ED5382RL

I currently have below the window cut out on the cab and the front of the bed cut out and this is what I use for it and will use again. Just use some weatherstripping glue to seal it on both cab and shell side.

    Bracing, cant help there yet.
