    week 1:
    towed the new toy home.
new battery, cleaned connections, replaced fuel filter, drained fuel tank, (that drain plug is the most awesome thing!) replaced small section of fuel line. truck started up after a little convincing of the direct fuel technic. the previous owner hadnt started the truck for several years. i was just amazed that it had a working engine and tranny in it. when i offered the guy $350 bucks i thought it was just the body, which i had planned to set on my 1986 chassis.
so, i get it started, reinstall the rear drive shaft and take it for a spin. the truck has much more power than my 86 which has a fresh rebuild. must be the gearing. whoa! no brakes! get it back to the house and hear the sqeaking rat somewhere in the bed. it jumped out of the left front fender well and took off into the neighbors yard. good thing cuz my wife is already pissed i have another project truck :) found 5 more baby rats under the bedliner and disposed of them. parts ordered so far (some nos, some used): hood, chrome front bumper, grill, and cab vents. factory radio, cig lighter, ashtray (no smoking! just wanted the parts), driver and passenger windows with vent windows and regulators, factory sticker kit for restoration. still in need of door panels, (by the way, i have a set of 84 panels from and extended cab turbo truck in grey if anyone needs them) weatherstipping and windows seal kit, and a couple more small things. tune in next week as the bed comes off and the sandblasting begins.

    week 2

well, i got the wiring harness pulled from the frame rails, tomorrow remove exhaust, fuel tank, and brake lines. i have to wait until thursday for the blasting media to arrive from north georgia :(

bright spot of my day was receiving my vent windows, but still waiting on the door glass and regulators. hopefully tomorrow will be more productive but this job thing is kinda getting in the way.

What is the difference in the media blasting? Or get like different kinds? Or just pretty much hard to find? Go grab sand from the beach.

i found the sand removes alot more of the metal when i did my mustang, so i went with glass beads this time, heavier for the frame and some very fine stuff for the body. bound to make a huge mess :D

Oh neat. Never knew had different kinds of materials for sand blasting. Make sure you use protective gear now.
