Well went to crank my toyota today to do a valve adjustment while warm. Motor sounds like its knocking. its not loud. only on idle and when it warms up. Oil good. Pressure good. Removed oil pan and found a finger size tube like metal peice with groves on the end sorta looking like the timing chain tensioner minus the plastic end. then small metal parts.. pistions are good, rods good, crank good, no slack, and its perfect. my only thought was when they rebuilt the engine they left some stuff behind. now the oil tube was stoped up bad. I put a new one on and cleaned everything.. it seems quiter but still hear this knock. now the timing is off i know, but not by much. its all got me turned around. so idk. what do ya think it could be ? anything would help me right now.

i think pinging and knocking could be resolved by retarding your timing?

Save your money and just get a new timing kit with the steel guides... If you like LCE products, invest in the high volume oil pump instead. Just my 0.2
