Hi guys, I'm new to the site, was wondering if I could get some help. My uncle left me a 1988 Long bed Toyota pickup. I believe he cut out the rear window and sheet metal for whatever reasons, I don't know why. He has a shell on it, so nobody can see it. I want to remove the shell and drive it like a regular pickup. Any ideas on how to replace the windows and sheet metal that was there? I have a cousin who is a welder. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Well you can probley try a junk yard or pick a pull and cut one out and then weld it in yours. Or you can find some one parting theres out and do the same thing. Whatever you decide good luck. Hey welcome to TM, got any pics of the truck?
if it was me I'd find another truck and use yours for parts less work in the long run and may turn out to be cheeper also
just build a massive wall of speakers in there!! I think 6 mtx jackhammers would fill it up pretty quick.
I was about to say kinda seems like he was gonna do the whole walkthrough thing but never finished it unless with the shell on there it was sealed off with an accordian boot. My 2 cents is even if you find a donor cab make sure whomever welds it is great at it otherwise the top of the window or entire window in general wont fit or seal properly
OR....you could take sawzall and whack the rest of the roof off. Weld the bed to the cab, seal the tops of the doors. Toyota Roadster, done.
Better yet you could just get the window and surounding metal and have your cousin weld it and get a tonou cover . so the lower portion behind your seats is open to the bed. massive speaker box plus the truck wouldnt look like a camper.
