1986 truck help

    I have a problem rough idle when cold and ill drive for 15min and shut it off and wait for 5min and it runs like a top .while driving you can feel it jurk and chug until it gets over I don't know what .it chugs black smoke until then and stinks bad .what could it be .carb ?Choke?please help.22R its got new plus and wires and cap .sprayed the carb with cleaner and cleaned really good.sorry I'm a newbie thanks.

    I'm guessing it's your carb /choke. My 86 used to do the same thing. When cold, start it up and take off driving....you either have to BARELY touch the throttle, or pedal it till you can stand on it. Either way...it lacks all kinds of power, spits and sputters, and just doesn't wanna run. However, after the truck warms up a bit, say, the needle gets just past the bottom paint mark on the gauge, it runs and drives like normal.

    I say start with the spark plugs if projects description is what is going on. fouled plugs will do just that.
