or...you can save a lot of hassle, and a little coin by putting an MSD box on it. If your stock igniter goes out, it's 300 bucks to replace....An MSD 6AL is only ~200 bucks, and the difference is phenomenal!

My igniter went on my 86, I tried the gm HEI conversion deal....messed with it for 2 days, and the truck never ran. On the 3rd day I bought a 6AL, threw it on in about 2 hours, and BAM! easier starting, better fuel economy, adjustable rev control, and most importantly- MORE POWER!

okay whats the deal with this whole GM set-up...some say you can use the stock toyota coil, others say "you gotta use a resistor on the stock toyota coil or else it wont work"...some others say only the GM...
i got mines runnin for one day,i got a 20r i used the 79 GM module and a 87 toyota coil with no resistor ran top shape. drove it for about a half hour, came back to the grage and turned the truck off and on for a good 6 or 7 times, strated up and idle all the time...waited for a couple hours and tried to start it and it wouldnt start...
the next day it started rite up (WTF) so i turn it off and it does start after that...so i go to the parts store and pick up another module thinking i blew the other one...got home and tried to start it one more time befor i change the moudle and the Faka start...WTF...then guess what...yups it wouldnt start at all...does any one have answers...?
and can you run the MSD 6AL and the vaccum advance on a 20r?
