    do the floats still float?

if they do, you can bend them a lil bit to increase the fuel in the bowl.

your looking to get the fuel level to be about center of the sight glass with the truck level.

this could also be a clogged fuel filter.

Forgive me i am not a Carb specialist, but if the floats are not returning when the fuel is returned causing it to stall out when coming to a stop, would a simple rebuild kit from napa do the trick?

welcome! i wouldn't worry about anybody bitchin at ya for askin a question. pretty relaxed atmosphere here:waytogo: unlike some forums.

i had a similar situation on my mustang with an edelbrock carb. it was flooding the motor when coming to a stop. i rebuilt the carb and it ran good for about a week, then started doing it again. pulled it back apart and found that the float had a pin hole and filled with gas. i replaced the floats and it's worked perfect ever since. the weird thing is the first time i built it the float was empty.

i would recommend a rebuild, since most kits have a gauge for setting the floats. also make sure the float doesn't have a hole.

^ i think a vacuum leak would make the engine speed up.

Had a similiar problem with my stock one, decided the best thing to do was to just get it replaced with a weber replacement kit, runs like a champ now. Just looked at the box it reads replacemnt for Toyota 20-22R #K746, ran me $279 Dan, my fab guy installed it for $50, did an excellent job, also the truck has a new fuel pump and exhaust manifold, with everything else done to it its basically a brand new truck, aside from the body work and paint, Dan told me that while back and thought that was so cool for a truck thats over 27 years old.

Hope you get the carb issue worked out,
I know excatly how you feel.

It's really hard to deal with a non working carburetor, you dismantle the whole thing and clean it many times yet it's not performing well sometimes the only solution is to find carburetor rebuild kit that would replace some of the defective parts
