does anybody know a company that sells a engine driven air ride compressor? i have seen them but dont know a compant that sells them.
Make one will be alot cheaper. Go to the junk yard an get a York ac an convert it over there's a guy on mazdabscene that did a how to on converting it to grease an using it as an air compressor
Idk about how long they last I guess it depends how you take care of it. If you don't do a grease conversion you have to put oil in it an do an oil water seperater an you need to check the oil atleast every week. But with grease conversion you don't have to at all. They are quiet though my buddy had one they fill up fast aswell. But make sure you run atleast one back up compressor
Ive always wanted to do this to have compressed air at the track, instead of bringing nitrogen bottles im gunna have to look for a compressor next time im at the junk yard.
i'm not so sure about that grease mod, but I did a write up on www.bodydrop.org that you may want to sign up and check out. There's a lot of good people there. I am about to start on my EDC setup, with a york 209. Should be fun.
that mazdabscene is pretty good for guys that want to run a sanden! i don't have the room for a york compressor and plan on using my factory 1uz a/c compressor for air, as well as a dc5000 for a back up.
bernie, not all compressors are suited for air. the sanden and york take well to oil as well as their displacement being pretty high up there. A lot of these don't use oil or something, which only allows them to pump so much before locking up, something about the freon cooling them in stock appls along with the pressure not being too high.
i will check out boydrop.com. i am open to all types as long as it will last. i like the idea and want to try it .
If I recall correctly, freon in the system does nothing to cool the compressor; As the freon enters the compressor and has its volume reduced it actually concentrates all the heat in your ac coolant into a smaller space making it hotter than before it went in. AC systems use an oil that that is picked up and carried by the freon/r134a. Since its a sealed system there is always oil moving through the compressor. I think it would be easier long term to just do the grease conversion.
From what the guy said tht did the write up on mazdabscene that he had one using oil before an it locked up on him after a little while of using it. So he did the grease conversion an hasn't had it lock up on him an he does t have to check the oil on it every week. Making it less maintenance . I have a sanden ac pump sitting in my garage right now that I probably won't ever use if you want it lemme know
Ya usually they'll have like a plate that says what kind it is. I have a sanden 708 I think it is if you want it just pay shipping but that might be alot
duh just saw you r . i could proubly find one here for less than the cost of shipping but thank you anyways.
