okay so when my car is at idle.. or when im coming to a stop it wants to turn off!.. i already did a tune up made sure it had all the liquids.. and it turned off on me twice when i came to a stop what could it be ??? a vaccum leak?? its real shakey but when i drive its GREAT!!
sounds like a vacuum leak. take your air filter off and spray a tiny bit of carb clean down the throat of the carb while running, note how it speeds the motor up. now carefully and methodicly spray all of the vac fittings and lines with carb clean. when you find the leak the idle will speed up. could also be clogged vac lines, and if you havent change all your vacuum lines so you know they are good. do em one at a time so you dont F up
no no its not a vacuum leak it was the idle screw.. mine wasnt a flat it was a phillips.. and it made it better i guess when i smogged the car the guy messed with it so it could pass emissions... but its set the motor feels way better and doesn't want to turn off when i slow down to a stop... no what i have questions about is the suspension.. how low can the car go in the front with those torsion bars??? i kinda wanna have it at this height.. all around what do i do?
yes it is a vacuum leak. all you did was turn the idle screw in until it opened the throttle plates, the same as stepping on the gas a lil bit. and thats just cheating not fixing the problem. what is your idle speed right now? (RPM)
ah i dont have an RPM gauge!! so i dont know.. all i did was turn the screw until the car wasn't shaky no more when im coming to a stop.. but i have checked all over for vacuum leaks and i have not been able to find one!! i checked all outlets and all hose and nope..
ya well not only with my eyes but i felt around the carb and a couple of other place to see if it felt like anything was sucking.. but imma try to do what shosnuff told me to do...
not trying to offend anyone here in the slightest... but you will never, i repeat NEVER find a vac leak by feeling. there is too much air moving about to notice even if you wet your fingers or something. a gauge is a good way to check your vacuum but it wont tell you where the leak is only that you have low vacuum. the simplest way to check is with carb clean. or basic maintence, new lines and carb/intake gaskets every so often.
well the engine has just been rebuilt.. but ya im new to the carb engine.. so ya.. but ya i cant afford a gauge im so broke and unemployed al teh money i go to goes to gas.. so imma try that method you told me earlier!
