so on my way to formula d this year this honda civic pulled up beside me and wanted to race. sooo of course i did but i revved alittle past where im suppose to and then i pull into FD and it is making this horrible pinging or knocking noise. it sounds like something is loose jingling around in there somewhere. but now at idle you cant hear it but when driving pretty much the whole time it is making that noise.HELP whats wrong with my yota

well pull the valve cover and start looking for broken stuff...If its a jingle its usually something up there...if its a solid knocking its in the lower end...good luck! let us know what you find. We like carnage pics :)

    Wait a min.

You did a WOT nutral drop on the automatic... :looney:

I bet something just worked loose. Look and look and look. Once you can make the noise, its real easy to find.

I wouldn't even bother racing a Honda especially if its a DOHC Vtec or your motor is built or even boostin. My girls 4 door Integra GSR will smoke me. ahaha.. I hope you find out whats wrong atleast.

i used to hangout with alot of honda kids a year ago. the d series motors, unless seriously built (why, money could do a b swap) they dont usually beat a 20/22R. unless you have an auto, or really need a tuneup. lol. i used to beat most of the d series people. could give b series cars a run for their money on a 45 or 60 drop but once they got to about 6k rpm they walked away from me. they may be the butt of jokes but they make some wicked power if done right.

anyways, keep hunting around. you may have throw a valve out of adjustment, blown an exhaust gasket, or possibly tossed a rod bearing.

But now everyone and there brother has turbo ones now around here... but my Z has been broke so no one can race it and ruin its name even though they have like 10000 in there car and I still have a few hundred.

H22's are weak. B20 built right is the best way to go. Alright this is a Yota forum. Enough for me. haha...

yeah i beat him of course! but it was a d16 lx civic. and i got the valve cover off and i didnt see anything wrong on the top end. no metal pieces or nothing so i think it was just a valve out of adjustment.
