At least your generation started something cool like mini trucks....... my generation started the fast and the furious ricer scene (followed by 2 gay bi-curious).

I wish I was born just about in 47 or so. It'd be perfect. Be 18 right in the start of the muscle car movement and full of **** and fury! The muscle car era was definitely one of the best times in history, and one of the most missed era's, I do believe. Cars were much better, and they ran faster then even some super cars could dream of. A Copo Camaro could run high 11's stock, hell an enzo only runs 11.3 or something. I'd give anything to be able to buy '70 LS6 Chevelles for 4 grand!

I grew up with the ricer crap too. What sucks, is it has another 5 years atleast before it fades out. It'd be different story if half the cars weren't fwd. Thats why they are so dumb. Have 450whp to two front wheels. Man, that's RAD DUDE!

I don't mind the fwd thing some of those fwd cars are freaking fast and have handling to boot. What gets me are ricers not tuners. I used to just like going in a straight line quickly but then I bought my Sentra SE with the power package (lsd, progressive springs, braces, special shocks, SR20DE engine) because my little yota hates snow and that Sentra handles awesome and has gotten me hoocked on cornering. I'm even thinking about doing some autocross. Don't get me wrong though RWD is still the best. The muscle cars are pretty cool but they handle kind crappy and weigh a freaking ton plus a lot of muscle car guys don't have an open mind towards other cars especially ones with 4 bangers. Which is why my goal is to build my 22re to blow the doors off the local muscle cars :). If that doesn't work in goes a 2jz.

I can agree with some things you mentioned. However, if I EVER want to AutoX/ DE a car, I won't be doing it in a FWD. Why? Simple; that is demanding too much of the front wheels. You expect them to put the power down, steer, and brake all through the front wheels. I'm sorry, but my truck lowered can handle just as good as my buddies '00 4 door civic at stock ride height. Mainly because mine is riding on bumps, so body roll is almost non existent. It would out handle him if I had much much better tires, though.

Muscle cars are cool, and heavy, and handle crappy STOCK. You throw a coilover setup all the way around, and you'd better watch out. Yes, that's lots of work, but they'll handle like nobodies business. Heavy? WHO CARES!!! If a 4,000 pound car can run an 11.8s pass stock, thats good. If you gut the interior and drop additional weight, all it has to gain is speed, WITHOUT even touching the motor. I'll start with any lardass/fast car before I start with any skinny/slow car. I'd much prefer to rip an interior out before I drop a motor in! ;)

Also, your 22re to take some muscle cars? Well, maybe fords. Don't pull up to any Chevy sporting more then a 350 and expect to win. A 396 in a chevelle would toast you man. You'd have to be making quite a bit of power in the 22re (which is almost impossible). If you want to be smoking people, get you a 7MGTE (which is a bolt in deal, if you find the parts) or a small block. You'd be better off with a 7MGTE making 350whp in a 2700lb truck!
