hello everyone, this site is cool!
i have a major problem with my 79 4x4 pickup. my wife and daughter were tired of me leaving my lights on when i parked so decided to "help out"; and had my future son in law try to install a headlight buzzer. dont know exactly wha he did but tells me he touch heater and fuel pump fuses and now it doesnt start. no power to fuel pump, relay is good, pump is good. cobbled in power from battery to pump and it now starts but runs like crap. any ideas?:brickknock:

    hmmmm.
I would start with the ground.
    Fuel system problems always suck.
And check your filter. sometimes a jolt to the pump can draw crap in.

I take it the fuses were blown and replaced? and still no power until you cobbled from battery to pump? What about the fusible links, should be out near the battery, they are a fused piece of wire that does the same as a fuse, burns up to protect the circuit. Might check them :waytogo:

everything is pointing towards electrical. the carb is getting fuel, and like i said ive jumped the relay and put a toggle switch in to turn motor off(and fuel pump). cant get a decent idle under 2500rpm and the it wants to cut out. also the heater motor no longer works.1st thing i did was change filter and cleaned filter trap in tank. shoots fuel 6 feet into driveway!

id start with removing and repairing anything your future son in law did.

or make him buy you some beer so you have something to drink while you watch him do it.

    check all the fuses.

no fuses blown , could easily rectify that. it's like its fried relay's or possibly hidden fusible links; or just fried wires.

i didnt say he was gonna be drinking, just said he had to buy you beer :nana:

this more n more points to a fusible link. its connected right @ the batt then there will be a plug within 10in of the terminal. that bit of wire is the fusible link.

if he cut wires, they would be severed and color coded.
