Been looking into swaps for my truck and was just curious if i did do a 1jz since there pretty cheap compared to 2jz's, is there ECM upgrades as far as a chip like the buick GN guys are able to do before actually having to step up to a stand alone system? I guess my concerns are if i do a single turbo set up and crank the boost up a bit will my ECU be able to recognize that and adjust timing and fuel etc with out the risk of detonation? and how much HP can you expect before doing a stand alone setup?

Yes, the MAP sensor will recognize the increase in boost and compensate for fuel and the knock sensor will retard the timing if needed. You can go single turbo which is recommended if you want to run more than 14 pounds of boost.

I've seen a 1jz dyno pull of 335 hp to the wheels on the stock c12 turbos around 12 psi.

litneon, thanks for the reply. damn, just 300hp to the wheels would be fun!
single turbo would be a great mod, just wouldnt have the funds to do that until down the road.
