well Ive decided I like going to the mud holes a lot and I dont like tearing my titan up... so Im going to do a solid axle swap into the yota...I still want a bagged truck so I will save my rims till I can afford it.. but Im thinking I want somewhere between 10 and 15 inches of lift on some 42inch boggers I dont know if thats enough lift for that but thats about the size tire I wanna run.. plus my neighbor has a brand new set I can have for nearly free....hes upgrading to 54s lol... anyways Im looking for some good info on the swap and where to get parts for the low....I really dont want to use yota axles because they are so tiny but IDK... anyways this will be my summer project... saving up for a/t toyos that retail at 450 a piece ! for the titan lol....I bought one used for 75 bucks only had a few thousand miles ! also will be looking for a project trailer to turn into a baddazzzz car hauler... gunna throw it on some 35'' mud tires lol 2 axles and painted to match.. this is all Ideas, dont think Ive got the money to do it because I dont lol.. its a long haul though and hopefully will keep my interest
what work is there ? all I need is a new tranny with x case, its the same chasis so its not like it wont bolt up... cut a hole in the floor for shifter.. Im already going to need custom drive shafts with the amount of lift im going
the frames are actually different between the 4x4 and the 2 wheel drive. but that only matters if you wanted ifs 4 wheel drive. i would also recommend picking up a junker yota and doing it since your truck is pretty sweet as is.
I want to tear up some mud in style man lol...the reason why I dont use a junker is I can NOT STAND seeing my yota rot in my back yard ! I realize she may get scratched and some dings in the mud (unless I roll her) but its not anything another 250 dollar paint job wont fix lol...
Yeah they're different. Look here: http://www.toyotareference.com/ The chassis code on the 89-95 2wd reg cab is RN80 The chassis code on the 89-95 4wd reg cab is RN101
that would be awesome, just not going to work.. another reason why its going to be mud truck and have a trailer is because its going to be towed places, I cant afford the insurance on it...my insurance right now is $900 a month, with the yota its 1150 a month... the 900 hurts hard enough since thats a freakin house payment.. plus I crashed my titan saturday night so its probably going up more ( not my fault ) but I bet it will still go up... by the way burn, please dont crash your s10 man, thats what hit me and that thing it TOTALEDDD frame hit my hitch and just buckled man...my truck has one ding in the tailgate and one in the bumper.. his will never be on the street again...
your payment shouldn't go up if you weren't cited. my wifes premium didn't go up for 4 months after she wrecked the mustang twice in less than a month, both times she was at fault. damn man, to bad about that s-10 could use the tailgate off of it!
bagging your truck would be easier and cheaper. especially if you want a tire in the 40in range. there arnt many axles out there that out of the box will stand up to that abuse. to do a solid axle/4x4 swap and be able to run 40's and turn them id say your lookin at $3k+ to start. gears alone will be almost a G right there. would be easier to find a old F350 4x4 and toss the body, then plop a yota body on top. for the record, yota axl's arnt tiny, bigger then most jeep axles.
there a 88 4 runner up here thats 4x4 and looks and runs perfect the kicker is it comes with a running 87 4 runner , that has a bad head gasket for 1400 dollars obo thays your best bet, put a hg on the parts 4runner engine and put it in your truck use the other 4runner, which has removable top, as bogger
so that mean ya wanna sell ur spokes? dam man aint gonna lie that blue will look good lifted in the air but it is alot of work
I will sell them for the right price... how much lift would I need to run 40''s ??? I know you can run 35s with a 4 or 6inch ? kit... I was thinking of running a ford 9inch rear end and an older bronco front axle but also like I said price isnt really a problem.. well it is but its just the more expensive the slower it goes... also whats wrong with running toyota axles with a stock 22r ?? all I really need is gears right ???
I second the 4Runners... I want one myself. 1985 is the year to get because it's the first year of the EFI in the 4x4's and last year of the solid axle, it'll save you some cash with one of those. '84's aren't bad either. And a good place to find Off Road parts is: www.allprooffroad.com They are an aftermarket Toyota specialist with solid axle swap kits, cages, gears, the works. They are located out here in Hemet, but it looks like they ship parts too. I found them from www.wildyoats.com.
Sorry for the jack but, what exactly does your sig mean? PM me... Back to topic... Javi~ I'd start out with a 4X for the sake of saving time/money... Look for something 85 or older taht already has the straight axle. As for clearing 40's your gonna need atleast 10-12" and some body trimming when it starts flexing.... I'll post up some links for you when I have more time of some 2WD rigs converted back home...
Absolutely nothing but i would go with a doubler way before I re-geared. I still run stock 4:10's but have dual transfer cases way better and it is selectable........... That way you stay away from the weaker lower gear sets like a 5:29. you can also do a hybrid rear axle and run a landcruiser 9.5" solid diff in the front it is all very straight forward. follow this link to build the rear and then source out a solid front from a fj40 or 60. http://www.ih8mud.com/tech/hybrid.php have any other ? just ask
They're also selling coilover front solid axle swap kits, don't know the price, cheaper than custom fabricated. website: www.offroadsolutions.com phone: (303)278-6267
