So true! But rainy evenings are perfect for brewing a hot pot of java and thoroughly scrubbing down engine parts.

Everything looks like it is in fine shape. Only real oxidation I found was on the cast parts of the rocker assembly. After a few swipes with a brass brush, it all came off, and looks like new again.

All of that orange in the water pump is actually a coat of copper, thanks to my copper radiator pipes.

The only damage I could find was this grooving in the timing cover, but it ia below tue oil pump.

Could that be a bad tensioner?

It is an LCE dual row conversion kit. I haven't had problems with it before.

I was turning the crank with the chain on but loose while I was trying to access and loosen the rod bolts to break the engine down, so I think that might be it. The tensioner seems to have good rebound on it, and there isn't gouging anywhere else.

When I start installing things again, I will check the clearances there.

I've got pretty much all of the parts and gaskets that I need to start putting things together, but am waiting to save up to get some 4032 forged pistons.

Nice getting those is definitely a good supporting mod to get.

Most definitely! The turbo requires forged pistons, but the ones coming out of Jim's shop look like the best that you can find anywhere.

Oh yeah, I've seen that one.

I don't really care how much the top number mine makes, what I care about is that I built it myself. And if I do dyno her, she is driving there herself, not being ponied around on a trailer haha.

from intake to exhaust this is how things flow:
    5m AFM
    Ct20 turbo pushing 10psi
    stock TB and Intake
    Stock Fuel Injection
Head is ported and polished, 1mm oversized valves
    LCE Turbo Camshaft
    Forged pistons
    22REperformance I-beam rods (lightest I could find)
    LCE Turbo Exhaust manifold
    2.25 exhaust
    Electric fans

Still hoping to get the FAST ignition working right

that is a lot of little numbers adding to the base stats of 143hp and 173ftlbs of torque, so 200 is a stretch. Like I said, I don't really care about the numbers. I just know that the engine never ran 100%, and that is what I want; a reliable steed that works better than it did before. Plus all the fun of building the thang.

Oh yeah. Mentioning that you have had problems from the beginning makes me think you are at the limit of the ecu. I've heard toyota ecu's are bad for power and no support for tuning.

I know the problems I had from the get go were from a neglected engine. Before I came along, the truck had sat around for a long time, and needed some love from the get go. Then I got my hands on it, and the deeper I went, the more little things I found. I worked most of them out, and things were actually running quite well right until I pushed it hard enough to blow the HG.

Now I'm going to take my damn time, and make sure things go right. (repeat for myself TAKE MY DAMN TIME) haha

Got the lowe control arms off, and removed those bushing as well. the back of the LCA bushings were split so badly that I could see the inner metal sleeve. Disassembling the lower suspension was definitely my workout for the day! Next up is cleaning everything up and popping in the new Prothane bushings.

All the suspension is back together and looking quite clean!

Work on the engine is slow while I wait for some parts to come in. I've gotta find a machine shop to pop in some new rod bushings because the last ones weren't in great condition.

While I wait for the upsps deliveries I went ahead and insyalled the studs and acorns in the feont of the engine. Just a little touch, but I diiiig how it looks.

Thanks man! It really looks much better than I imagined.

Now I'm wondering if I want to wrinkle paint my valve cover or keep it raw aluminum.
