Hi. I am in the process of changing head gaskets on a 3.0 as well as rebuilding the power steering. Has anyone deleted the vacuum line going to the intake from the power steering pump? I understand that it's the idle up, but with the torque of the V6 and a manual transmission, I just don't see the need for it. I figure it'd also take care of the issue wherein a seal goes out and leaks power steering fluid into the intake.

I rebuilt the power steering pump with a seal kit. We'll see how it goes. There weren't any ball bearings like in the instructions. It was missing a circlip as well. Maybe it was rebuilt incorrectly previously, or it's a different design.

Ended up replacing the PS pump with one from a junkyard. Works great now. The old pump was missing parts.
