Its an inch lower now. Z'd the front clip and cut off the leaf spring hangars over the weekend. Shes laying flat on the ground now. Need to fishplate the joints now. And the trans is a W58
Not too much progress. Ended up taking most of the weekend away from the garage. I did get the tailshaft seal on the tranny and the rear seal on the engine replaced. Honestly didnt need to BUT i i figured i might as well since i didnt do it last time everything was out and apart. got the flywheel put back on and im going to try to get the clutch assembly back together and the trans bolted back up so i can drop it in the truck this week.
Welp i ended up ordering a Flowtech shorty header from Summit on wednesday and it showed up last night. Gotta love their shipping. Going to wait til the engine is in the truck before installing it along with the ARP studs. Realized the other day that i still need to mess with the steering column and get that fitted and modded before dropping in the engine, will be much easier to move around in the engine bay with no engine.
Got the column fitted up, ended Up being much simpler than I anticipated. I fucked up and forgot to plug some holes on the column tube from Drilling out the spot welds to the the dash bracket off. At this point its too late to go back. So im leaving it and moving forward. il be cleaning up the control arms and send them off to get powder coated soon. Then il be painting the frame and dropping the engine back in
Well, frame is painted and engine is in. Luckily i didnt have to cut the floor to have the trans fit back in. Hopefully the angle of the trans isnt too severe. Il be checking that and adjusting accordingly. For now fuckit. Had my wife do a little something on the truck for me. Had her play with the welder for a bit to get comfortable then she dropped a heart on each side. Shes been a big part of this project.
Lol plans are....eventually. I may try to rework the OE inner fenders to fit. Or do the usual and get some trailer fenders. Not sure yet tbh.
I always liked the look of trailer fenders and tubes in the bay. Looking at it before it wouldnt take to much to do. Seems like should be able to get a nice sized plate on the fire wall to weld your tube to.
Oddly enough there is plenty of space in these trucks for tubework and a cage. Wont be doing a tube front on this any time soon.
I got the thought of a cage out of my head after realizing I'm at the limit height wise to not be cramped. I got shuffle to get in at 6'2" already.
Buckets out of a Subaru. As low as they can go with it all the way back against the cab and in the first recline position. I can get away with it but I would be cramped somewhat with a helmet.
Control arms are with a friend who will be doing the powder coating. Got a bunch of parts on order. Its all just a waiting game now.
