Did this start before or after changing those parts?

Before changing all the parts I bought the truck like this so I have no prior history of it thought it just needed a tune up

Have a look at the airflow meter, if it has a flap-type AFM a backfire can damage them, the flap should not bind if you push it open with your finger

This and that it should be level for it to work properly

Also, a disconnected airflow meter would have this symptom

it runs at idle, but how does it run? is timing set?
An engine needs Fuel, Air, and Spark. Those are usually the 3 things I check
So first: Fuel. Do you have good fuel pressure? Are all the injectors firing properly? You can check their firing by turning the engine with an LED hooked up to the pigtail. It should blink when they fire. If it doesn't, flip it around and try again to see if the LED was in backwards.
Next: Air. Start with the AFM and check it's resistances. Once confirmed that it works, move downstream to the TB and so on. I like to include a valve lash adjustment in this step (its kida air?). Also check for vacuum leaks.
Lastly: Spark. I check this with my timing light, and just hook it up to each injector wire 1, 2, 3, 4, and crank to see if they are firing.

Hope this helps, this is usually my process that has been guided by much advice from all the great people on this and other toyota truck forums. Check out http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/index.shtml for easy and straight forward AFM and TPS reading.

At idle it runs great with no problems it’s only when gas pedal is pressed it back fires and sputters. I’m not sure of fuel pressure I did replace a new fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator. I set timing at 5 degrees like the hood label says thanks for any help

Have you let it get up to operating temp Before hitting the gas?
