can anyone post pics of ac compressor installed on their truck. I purchased everything to put a/c on my 80 but the compressor pulley does not line up with the others. wondering if the guy sold me parts from different year model or something
mine bracket looks different. you can see where the pulleys dont line up. the tensioner pulley is pretty close but the compressor is way off
The RN#3, 4#, & LN40 does have a specific A/C bracket. When Toyota rolled out the RN50 series in 1984, then parts numbers and part designs also change even though it's still on a 22R motor. Either find a period correct A/C bracket or find an aftermarket one. Rick
Looks like the compressor and bracket are different era's as pointed out. The idler will line up if the correct spacer is used behind it. There are a couple different spacers that will fit. The power steering idler spacer is thicker and is likely what is on there currently.
Do have the right Crank Pulley? The FED A/C systems and California A/ C systems are different. Different A/C Compressor mounting brackets, Idler Pulleys and Crank Pulleys. It looks like you have a Fed A/ C compressor bracket but I really can't tell by the photos. I think you need the three groove Crank Pulley even if you do not have power steering. By installing the 3 groove pulley everything should line up.
thanks for all the info. i contacted the guy i got it from just waiting to hear back from him. i'll have to check into that 3 groove pulley. i know i have 3 or 4 harmonic balancers in my parts collection just not 100% on how many grooves they have
I have a 1983 Toyota Truck Federal A/C System with Power Steering and my Crank Pulley is 3 Groove. All my pulleys line up. 1979-1983 Toyota trucks Federal A/C Systems all used the same parts and 1979-1983 Toyota trucks California A/C Systems used the same parts but again you can not mix parts between the Federal and California systems.
well a month later finally got the correct parts to complete the ac setup. only question I have is where does the compressor plug under the hood? pic greatly appreciated
Compressor plugs into a Brown wire located in the engine harness, right side fenderwell, near the battery. Should have the same type (single pole) and color connector as on the compressor.
