I have broken the front shocks anchor bolts on my 78 hilux, while replacing the shocks. I went to all hard ware stores around my house to search for the bolt and had no luck. They have the right size but not the same thread width. Just asking here if any one has any to part with or do they know if they can be applied from a 8o's truck?

I know this is a dumb question considering you're asking this but Do you happen to have spare bolts for the truck? Those bolts should be the same as a few others on the truck. Pretty much any 12mm bolt should fit it. I should have some spares. Il check tomorrow

ACE Hardware usually carries the correct size metric hardware. Also Fastenal and Grainger usually stock them too

Thanks @Perkolator. ACE does not have the correct pitch they have the 1.0, 1.25, 1.50. I have checked 2 different stores and no luck. I did not know about the other 2 stores I will go take a look.

The bolt has a 1.25 pitch. Any decent size hardware store should carry them.
It’s either M8 or M10 x 1.25. Can’t remember which it is. Also, be sure to get in grade 5 minimum grade 8 preferred.

I mean worse come to worse if you can figure out the correct thread pitch and such, you can order it off amazon or something. It might make you buy 10, but then you have extra. Just make sure not to get stainless steel, no matter how tempting it may be, stainless snaps really easy and it tends to gall and corrode with dissimilar metals.

Ace & most hardware stores have a string of thread checkers that you can find the exact size & thread pitch, than you just measure the length
I have one in my garage shop saves a lot of time!

Nottoshabi, did you ever find the bolt you were looking for? If not, I have a ton of fasteners from Toyota vehicles that I've parted out and scrapped over the years. If you can tell me the diameter, pitch, and length you're looking for. I'll see if I have one that will work.
