I have tried to find out what kind of oil to use in the engine of my 75 Hilux 20R, but everything online is anything but straight forward. Anyone got some insight?

Back in the day, 20W-50 was popular for hot climates and 10W-40 for cold.

I use 20W-50 in my 1988, 22R pickup. Today's 20W-50 just doesn't seem as viscous as yesteryear's stuff. Before anyone argues that, yeah, I know 20W-50 is 20W-50, regardless of what era. OTOH, we are talking API grade SM vs. SE...

I run mobil 1 in everything. 15-50 for the engine, 75-90 for the transmission and 90-140 for the differential. Been using it for years now. Very happy.
