So i've decided to upgrade the frontend of my 93 toyota pickup in favor of the 4 runner. What are the steps i need to take in order to convert my old frontend to the newer look of the 4runner? I thought it was a simple switch over, so i went ahead and bought the fenders, headlights+corner, front grill and bumper off of a 93 4runner and to my suprise only the fenders and bumper bolt on perfectly everything else is off. Is there any easier way of coverting instead of cutting and re-welding? Any help would be great, thanks!
Well, I wish I could help you but all I can say is that from what I've read so far from other posts is that you would have to drill a couple of new holes so that the headlights can mount and you also have to use the 4runner clips for the grill. I'm also trying to get a 4runner front end for my truck but all I have is just the fenders right now. Hope everything goes well with your install.
yea i just talk to one of my boy and im just gonna do it the right way. Im gonna go pick up the front core support off a 4 runner and cut it then weld it on my truck. I was thinking of doing it the cheap easy way but my truck is on bags so i dont want no headlights come flying out when i hit the switches
Everything on my truck bolted right up just lovely except for the right headlight. I had to trim some pieces off of it. Nothing too hard, just some common sense and a dremel. Just use some good self-tapping screws when you put the headlights in. I think I might of trimmed some of the mounts on the grille I don't remember it's been a while back. as far as the headlights falling out, I definately wouldn't go out of my way and put the 4 runner core support. If you use the right stuff then they're not gonna fall out. The roads where I live and filled with pot holes and I've yet to have one fall out. Just trying to save you some time man.
I'am doing this on my 89 4wd truck. Their is two ways to do it, you can drill all the spot welds on the 4Runner core support or cut it off the 4Runner with a sawzall and reweld it. Personally I would choose to drill the spot weld cause it will line up better unless your really good at body work. James
