Hissing from the EGR Valve?

So first off I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have an EGR valve as the truck was de-smogged when the Weber carb was installed by the PO. I'll link to a video but I'm guessing I need to buy or make a block for the EGR and remove it. So I guess that's question one.

Second one is the more I look at my carb plumbing the worse it looks. Why is the breather on the head plumbed to the carb? Was this setup incorrectly?

The hiss is the carb. Mine does the same and i have the EGR block offs. Also the plumbing off the valve cover looks fine.

i have mine set up a little different but its fine

Ahh ok cool. Should I go ahead and pull the EGR and block it off anyway?

If you're de-smogging for sure pull the EGR and block it off - looks a lot cleaner and like said "weight reduction" lol
Also as jetas said - the hissing is the carb and sounds normal for all of our carbs since air makes noise when it gets sucked in
The other breathers look normal, the PCV and breather are supposed to hook into the intake manifold. Optional you can get rid of the breather in exchange for a vent filter and intake block plate, but though they look cleaner they often puke oil all over the place like mine does every time I drive it :doah:

You still have oil coming out with only running the breather filter?

I had the breather and PCV filters and had no issues until a few days ago. I'd stop everyone hour or so to clean off the valve cover. I guess I'll need to get rid of these since cleaning up all that oil is just annoying.

I be honest I just loved how clean the engine bay looked with dual filters. Oh well. haha

Breather on the front one, and the PCV on the middle one going to a spot on the 20R intake between the carb and head. Taped up(literally) the hole on the underside of the air cleaner.

OOOH I wish my engine bay was as clean as that. Very nice. Any upgrades inside that 20r?

It's not really "puking" but there's definitely oil escaping from the front breather filter on mine. I've heard this is somewhat normal, but it could also be that I tend to only drive this little truck very spiritedly lol

Damn you guys those are some pretty engine bays. I ordered the backing plate for the egr valve delete.

I see you both have the exhaust manifold heat shields removed. Is that just for aesthetics? Any downsides? I've got valve cover envy too.

Aside from the weber and carb she is all stock. I have a 22r in the garage that I'm debating on swapping. I'd like to keep the 20r for a while though. The 20r/22r hybrid is also an option if I can't decide on which to use. :)

Honestly I removed it because it just looks better. I added the exhaust wrap (mainly because I think it looks cool) so it should help a little with excess heat. I even went the extra step to add heat shielding to the brake booster, and steering box. So far no downsides. My goal with my engine bay is to remove as much as i could to make it much easier to work on.

Looks good! I had a hard time deciding between red or black for the valve cover. I've considered buying a second one so I can swap back and forth. haha

I swapped a 20r valve cover onto my 22ree because those things are just sexier. polished, painted, or showing the years and miles.

I'm not even sure if the shield would fit anymore as mine's got a Hedman Header on it. Possibly, but I don't plan on putting one back on
